Massage in Ambler, PA: Tao Spa Spring House, 5 Minutes Away

Ambler has restaurants, theatre, a great Saturday farmers' market — and no full-service spa inside the borough. That is where we come in. Tao Spa Spring House is a 5-minute drive north on Bethlehem Pike, with a calm room, skilled therapists, and a menu that runs from quick 30-minute deep tissue to 90-minute candlelit couples sessions. We see a lot of Ambler regulars. Most of them walked in once and now book monthly.

I · How to get here

From Ambler to Tao Spa Spring House

From downtown Ambler — Butler Pike or Main Street — head north on Butler Pike. Pick up Bethlehem Pike (PA-309 Business) at the merge and continue north for roughly two miles. We are at 752 N Bethlehem Pike on the right side of the road, just past the Spring House Village shopping area.

From the Ambler Borough train station the drive is about 6 minutes. From the Forest Avenue / Trinity Episcopal area, about 5. From the Susquehanna Road / Lower Gwynedd side, about 8. Free parking right outside the suite — you do not have to circle the block.

For visitors coming the other direction from Whitpain or Blue Bell, we are about 6 to 8 minutes south on Bethlehem Pike. From Fort Washington it is closer to 4 minutes via Pennsylvania Avenue.

II · What our Ambler clients book

The Ambler favorites

Deep Tissue (30 / 60 / 90 min)

The after-work classic. Targeted pressure on traps, low back, and the spots a desk job leaves behind. Most-booked weekday service for our Ambler regulars.

60-min Migraine Massage

Head, neck and shoulder focus, with a complimentary Face Gua Sha at the end. Quiet, slow, screen-detox session. See the dedicated Migraine Massage page for the full breakdown.

Candle-Lit Couples Massage

Side by side in a private room, candles and dim lighting. Popular for anniversaries, birthdays, and Saturday-morning slow starts. 60, 75, or 90 minutes.

Hot Stone Massage (60 min)

Warm basalt stones placed along the back and shoulders. Especially good in winter — Ambler regulars book this every January and February.

Reflexology (30 / 60 min)

Foot-focused bodywork with herbal foot bath. Great option if you are recovering from a long-standing-up day at one of Ambler's restaurants.

Massage + Facial Combo (100 min)

50-min Hot Stone Massage + 50-min Hydration Facial. The classic spa-day package. Ambler couples often book two of these side by side.

III · Why Ambler chooses Tao

What our Ambler clients say it's about

The reason regulars from Ambler drive over to Bethlehem Pike rather than walk into a chain spa is rarely the parking or the menu — it is the therapist. Massage is one of the lower-risk wellness practices when delivered by a licensed, trained practitioner. NCCIH's massage therapy overview describes hands-on bodywork as widely used for stress, muscle tension, and pain — most useful when the practitioner has formal training and you keep going back to the same person. NCCIH's six things to know about massage therapy spells out the same practical points — credentials matter, communication matters, the relationship between you and the therapist matters — and the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) echoes that long-term outcomes scale with seeing the same trained therapist over time. That is the exact thing a small independent spa is set up for.

"The reason regulars drive over is rarely the parking or the menu — it is the therapist they have already met."

No membership lock-in. You book when you want, pay for what you get, come back if it was good.

Licensed therapists cross-trained in both Eastern (Chinese bodywork, Thai, Ashiatsu) and Western (deep tissue, hot stone, prenatal) techniques.

5-star Google rating at Spring House. Small client list, regulars know the therapists by name.

Free parking, no busy lot, no strip-mall chaos. The room is quiet from the moment you walk in.

Walk-ins welcome 6 days a week. Open until 9 PM, which actually fits a working schedule.

Gift cards work at both Spring House and Glenside — so birthday and holiday gifts to Ambler friends are flexible.

The short drive north

Massage in Ambler: planning the short trip to Tao Spa Spring House

The trip from Ambler is short enough that the time of day matters more than the route. Bethlehem Pike moves freely in the late morning and early afternoon, which is when an 11 AM or 2 PM appointment turns the whole outing into a few minutes of driving and an hour on the table. The tighter stretch is the early evening, when commuters are coming off Route 309, so if you are booking after work aim for the last two hours of the day rather than the minute you leave the office; the final appointments run up to the 9 PM close, and the drive back to Ambler is quiet by then.

Parking is not something you need to plan. Tao Spa Spring House sits next to Whole Foods on Route 309, with free spaces directly in front of the door, and the Whole Foods lot beside it gives you a second option if the front row is taken on a Saturday. That neighbor is also the reason many Ambler guests pair the appointment with the weekly shop: book the session first, because a massage should not be followed by carrying bags, and walk next door afterward. There is no meter to feed and no ticket to buy, so a 90-minute session can run its full length without anyone glancing at a clock.

A first visit runs in a fixed order. Arrive about ten minutes before the appointment, because the therapist will ask a few questions before you lie down: where the tension sits, how firm you want the pressure, and any injuries or conditions worth knowing about. Answer honestly, since the licensed massage therapists here work from what you tell them rather than from a script. The room is quiet and the lighting is low, and the session ends when the time is up rather than with a pitch for a package. Pay at the desk afterward, tip if you want to, and book the next one or not.

What to book depends on whether this is your first time. For a first visit from Ambler, a 60-minute Deep Tissue Massage or a 60-minute Therapeutic Massage gives the therapist a full hour to learn your back, and the Couples Healthy Combo Massage, 60 minutes with clothes on and no oil at $125 for two, is the low-commitment way to bring a partner who is unsure. Once you know the room, the two Spring House sessions worth planning a visit around are the 100-minute Head to Toe Reset at $145 and the 75-minute Couples Luxury Massage at $190. Repeat guests tend to ask for the same therapist and book the next visit before leaving.

One thing to check before you set out is the day of the week. Spring House is closed on Tuesdays, and on that day the Glenside location, open 9 AM to 9 PM, is the alternative about twenty minutes south. Every other day the doors open at 10 AM and the last sessions finish at 9 PM. On Google, Spring House is rated 5.0 stars from 49 Google reviews, and top-rated is not a slogan here so much as an arithmetic fact. A professional standard of bodywork from licensed massage therapists is what those reviews describe, and on a weekend a text about half an hour ahead holds the room.
